Extra Curricular Activities

activities1Little Smiling Faces Daycare offers a number of extra curricular activities including:

Introduction to Spanish:  Partnership with Lessons From Abroad (LFA)
LFA provides language programs and tutoring for children ages 3 to 18 years. LFA introduces young children to various language and cultures through interactive immersion programs that use a thematic approach to learning.

Art Lessons:  Partnership with Artz Kids
The Art*z Kids program is designed with Art Education and Fun as the Focus.  Young artists not only develop new skills and knowledge but they create original masterpieces using a variety of media to add to or start their own portfolios.

Onsite Librarian
LSF often partners with Prince George’s County Memorial Library System for story time. Story time includes books selections based on centers theme for the month.

Yoga Instruction:  Partnership with Spiritual Essence Yoga
Spiritual Essence Yoga offers cultivating kids yoga classes that encourage children to use their imagination and yoga poses to imitate their environment.  Students are granted the opportunity to express themselves through creative yoga movements that build strength and flexibility.  They also explore meditation which strengthens concentration and balance.  Spiritual Essence Yoga partners with LSF incorporating their monthly theme and acting as an extension, by instilling additional lessons of compassion, friendship, environmental awareness, self-confidence and self-esteem.

Dance Classes: Partnership with Edurama
Edurama provides artistic enrichment activities which has a positive impact students.  The following activities are offered – music and movement, ballet, tap, jazz, and tumbling.

Martial Arts: Partnership with Martial Arts for Preschoolers, LLC

Martial Arts for Preschoolers, LLC offers Kung Fu to children ages 3 and up.  This style of Kung Fu is called Tien Shan Pai. The goal is to focus on those life skills learned at home and reinforced in the classroom such as respect for self and others, discipline, focus and attitude to name a few.

Music Classes: Partnership with Music For Life Kids

Music for Life Kids provides a customized and age group specific curriculum focused on increasing a child’s inherent ability to create, express and problem solve through music. Music for Life Kids also provides small group piano classes during after school hours.

Field Trips and In-House Extra-Curricular Activities

Field trips are used to reinforce various learning concepts.  During the school year, we take approximately five trips with various in-house activities.  Field trips are often scheduled to the Baltimore Zoo, Pump It Up, Maryland Aviation Museum and various other locations.  In house activities included visits from Mr. Derby, Artz Kids program, Edurama and various other programs
